Richard Schoeberl, Ph.D., Criminology Program Chair at UT-Southern, and a native of Pulaski, TN, spoke to Ms. Lori Haynes’  Criminal Justice classes today and shared with them his 25 years of experience with the FBI and National Counterterrorism Center, as an advisor to several Presidents and his expertise on human trafficking.

Tutoring Opportunity

Oak Grove Elementary School first graders who scored at the 90th percentile and higher on the AIMSweb reading assessment were recognized at the September Board of Education meeting. AIMSweb is a national, skills-based benchmark assessment given three times per year. 90th-99th percentile is considered Well-Above Average. Those students are: Braden Binkley, Samuel Torres, Pablo Sepuiveda, Zayden Ladd, Oliver Kezis, Elliot Arnemann, Brittlyn Palmer, Jameson Guerra, Bobby Bumpus, and Elliot Crane.  Congratulations to these high achieving readers.

On Monday, September 11th Cornersville High School computer applications students participated in Operation Gratitude and wrote letters to first responders across the country. SRO Scotty Stanford shared his experiences and why he chose his career path after 9/11. FBLA members also brought cookies for local first responders and distributed them to area community heroes.

Teachers across the globe celebrate Peter H. Reynolds’ picture book [*The Dot*](https://www.internationaldotday.org/) each September 15th to encourage creativity and confidence amongst their students. *The Dot* is about a girl named Vashti who discovers her artistic talent. As students read or hear Vashti's story, they're encouraged to explore their own creative sides. Teachers motivate them to make their mark and then challenge them to follow up and see where it will take them.  Westhills Elementary School students spent the week reading and talking about the book and creating art in Mrs. Kim Higgs’ class, followed by a celebration on the 15th.

WES Celebrates Dot Day

Calhoun Community College Recruiter Tanner Justice and Coordinator of Collaborative Programs Nathan Steele brought four 2023 Marshall County graduates to Spot Lowe on September 14th to share their experiences about the Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education (FAME) program which combines an AAS Advanced Manufacturing Technician degree with two years of paid industry experience.
