The Marshall County Vocational Education Center opened on March 11, 1976 and was renamed in 1981 in honor of W.R. "Spot" Lowe, Jr., a local businessman and Tennessee House Representative who was a strong supporter of vocational education in the the state. SLTC moved to its current location on Jason Maxwell Boulevard in 1984. In 1990, Spot Lowe Technology Center was accredited by the National Center for Career and Technical Education and was named a Tennessee Career Center of Excellence in 2010.

SLTC has played an important role in the economic development of Marshall County. The school's programs provide students with the skills they need to succeed in high-demand jobs. Current programs of study offered at Spot Lowe Technology Center, Marshall County High School, Cornersville High School, Forrest High School and Lewisburg Middle School include: Agribusiness; Agricultural Engineering and Applied Technologies; Automotive Maintenance and Light Repair; Business Management; Career Exploration; Cosmetology; Criminal Justice; Construction; Engineering; Environmental and Natural Resource Management; Human and Social Services; Nursing Services; Office Management; Teaching as a Profession (K-12); Veterinary and Animal Science; and Welding.

In addition to its academic programs, student clubs are offered including FBLA, HOSA, and participation in SkillsUSA.

    SkillsUSA Tennessee State Competition

    Marshall County Schools saw 20 students participate in the SkillsUSA Tennessee State Leadership and Skills Conference in Chattanooga on April 13-16th. The students competed in a variety of individual and team events, judged by business professionals, in order to test their skills against national industry standards. Silver medals were won by Caroline McNutt in Prepared Speech, and Arden Paulson and Ayden Campbell in the team Robotics and Automation Technology.

With the retirement of Mr. Lyn Stacey, we’d like to officially welcome Mr. Frank Musgrave to his new position as CTE Director and Principal at Spot Lowe Technology Center. Mr. Musgrave moves to this position with thirteen years of experience teaching Engineering, here at Spot Lowe. Mr. Musgrave and his wife, Nichole, have a son that will be joining the school system this year as a kindergartner. Please join us in welcoming Mr. Musgrave to his new role.
