It's not too early to start planning for your student to attend the district's free Summer Acceleration Camp to be held June 2-25 at Westhills Elementary and Delk-Henson Intermediate School. Activities included daily, Monday through Thursday from 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM, will include instruction in reading and math, along with physical activities; breakfast and lunch provided at no cost; and transportation provided when possible. Space is limited so please complete the online interest survey before March 10, or request a paper application at your child's school. Parents will be notified by early April if your child has been accepted into summer camp and additional paperwork will be required at that time to secure enrollment. Don't miss out on this opportunity for your child to enhance their skills and be better prepared for next school year.

MCS will be implementing the "Too Good for Drugs" school-based drug prevention program for elementary school students.
The program seeks to build the self-confidence of students so they are better able to make healthy choices and achieve success. Although there are different objectives across grade levels, promoting positive, pro-social attitudes and fostering healthy relationships are running themes throughout the program's curriculum. Overall, TGFD seeks to develop positive peer norms; appropriate attitudes toward alcohol, tobacco, and illegal drug use; personal and interpersonal skills relating to alcohol, tobacco, and illegal drug use; knowledge of the negative consequences of alcohol, tobacco, and illegal drug use; and finally the knowledge of the benefits of living a drug-free lifestyle.
If you do not wish for your student to participate in the Botvin Life Skills program please notify the school administration in writing by Friday, December 12, 2025.
