Dear Parents, TCA 37-1-601, known as Erin’s Law, requires public schools to provide child sexual abuse prevention education to students. This education uses age appropriate language and teaches age appropriate techniques to recognize child sexual abuse and to tell a trusted adult. In accordance with this law, we will be having a lesson on Personal Safety. This lesson will be focused on safety rules and identifying safe adults. If you would like to opt your child out of this lesson please contact me directly at jaime.may@mcstn.net. If you are choosing to opt out then please list your child’s name, grade, and homeroom teacher in the email. The deadline for a response to opt out of the lesson is Friday March 13th. The lessons will take place during counseling specials starting on March 17th. If there are any questions regarding the lesson then please feel free to reach out to me at the email provided. Thank you for your support in keeping all of our children safe and protected! Physical letters are coming home this week as well. –Ms. May, Westhills School Counselor

Dear 4th Grade Parents of Mrs. Vines and Mrs. Hendershot’s Classes, I am writing to share an important update with you. This Friday will be Mrs. Vines’s last day at Westhills Elementary School. Mrs. Vines has been presented with a career opportunity that she simply could not pass up. While we are certainly sad to see her leave WES, we are grateful for the impact she has made on our students and wish her the very best in her next chapter. Please know that during this transition, our students remain our top priority. We have officially posted the 4th Grade ELA position and are hopeful we will begin hearing from eager applicants very soon. In the meantime, we have asked Mrs. Brooke Crutcher to take over the classroom. Mrs. Crutcher is an amazing substitute who has been working with 4th grade for some time now. Our students are very familiar with her and absolutely love her. She knows our expectations, our curriculum, and our Tigers. We will be providing Mrs. Crutcher and our students with the support they need to ensure the high-quality learning experiences we expect at Westhills continue without interruption. During this transition period, Mrs. Hendershot will be doing her very best to communicate homework and classroom information to both classes to help keep everyone informed and supported. Thank you for your support and patience as we navigate this transition together. As always, student safety, well-being, and growth are our foremost priorities. We will continue to communicate any changes to the position as they unfold. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out. Paul.Boles@mcstn.net Carrie.Utterback@mcstn.net With appreciation, Carrie Utterback Principal, Westhills Elementary School 💙🐯
