MCS will be implementing lessons in grades 7-12, that can help to protect children against alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use. The Botvin LifeSkills Training program is ahighly effective substance abuse and violence prevention program. Students, depending on their grade, will be interacting with the Botvin program in either Physical Education, Health, Wellness, or in sessions with school counselors. otvin LifeSkills Training is a program that has been proven to work in more than 35 published studies. Journals such as the Journal of the American Medical Association have reported how students who have participated in the Botvin LifeSkills Training program have demonstrated resistance to alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use. These effects have been shown to last for up to 12 years after students have participated in the program. We are pleased to have the opportunity to incorpqrate this program into our academic day.

If you do not wish for your student to participate in the Botvin Life Skills program please notify the school administration in writing by Friday, December 12, 2025.
