Delk-Henson Intermediate students are participating in the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) during PE class, under the direction of teachers Ms. Katie Fears, Ms. Madison Curtis, and Ms. Jessica Ezell. This is a joint venture between the Tennessee departments of Education and Wildlife, with teacher training provided by TWRA. Students first practiced on string bows to become comfortable, and have learned archery terminology and safety rules. The program has been shown to improve student motivation, attention, behavior, attendance, and focus. DHIS purchased 5 sets of equipment with funding from NASP and the district's Coordinated School Health initiative.
